Notice of Nominations
Stakeholders of Tourism Vancouver Island,
In accordance with the constitution and bylaws of the Tourism Association of Vancouver Island we hereby provide notice of nominations for positions on the Board of Directors of the Association. The Board of Tourism Vancouver Island is a policy/governance Board and is driven by its Vision, Mission, Mandate and Core Operating Values. We are seeking tourism stakeholders that are dedicated to the success of the Association and will support its principles.
Vision: To be the recognized leader for innovative regional destination management and stakeholder involvement.
Mission: To increase the economic, social and environmental benefits from tourism to the Vancouver Island region.
Mandate: To position the Vancouver Island region as a premier, all season tourism destination.
Core Operating Values: Leadership, Triple Bottom Line, Accountable, Excellence and Innovative.
Elected Positions
As a voting stakeholder of the Tourism Association of Vancouver Island, you are eligible to nominate a voting stakeholder or yourself for an elected position on the Board. Each of these positions is for a two (2) year term. Nominations for the following four (4) positions are open immediately and will close on August 05, 2011:
- South Vancouver Island
- Gulf Islands
- South Central Vancouver Island
- North Central Vancouver Island
These positions are open to voting stakeholders operating a tourism business in one of the aforementioned jurisdictions. Elections will take place electronically during the period of August 24th, 2011 – September 07th, 2011. The results of this election will be announced at the Association’s Annual General Meeting being held in Nanaimo on September 22, 2011.
Appointed Positions
Nominations are also being requested for two (2) Appointed Director positions. Nominations for these positions are not geographically based and are open to all stakeholders of the Association. The Board of Directors of the Tourism Association of Vancouver Island will select from the nominees that best fit the Association’s Competency Framework. Nominations for Appointed Positions must be received by July 31, 2011.
Director Information
All nominations must have the signature of four (4) voting stakeholders, other than the nominee, that support the nomination.
