Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ 2007 Choice Award
Condé Nast Traveler magazine readers ranked Vancouver Island as Top North American Island. Vancouver Island ranked first ahead of Nantucket, MA, and Kiawah, SC, in the North American Island category. This is the eighth consecutive year that Vancouver Island has received this honour.
Travel + Leisure Readers' 2007 Choice Award
Readers of Travel + Leisure magazine have named Vancouver Island "The Best Island in the Continental US and Canada,
" in the magazine's 12th annual World's Best Awards readers' survey. Vancouver Island was also voted the sixth best island in the world
, and was the only temperate island to make the top nine globally. Last year, Vancouver Island placed third among US and Canadian islands. Victoria, the provincial capital on the island's southern tip, was also popular, placing ninth among favourite US and Canadian cities
. Nearby Vancouver, British Columbia's largest city and upcoming 2010 Winter Olympic co-host, took fifth place.
Association Cornerstone of Excellence (ACE) Award
Tourism Vancouver Island was recognized with an Association Cornerstone of Excellence (ACE) Award by the BC Chapter of Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE). The ACE awards focus on four areas of excellence categories including Government Affairs, New Program, Above & Beyond, and Special Event. In recognition of the implementation of the Stakeholder Business Model, Tourism Vancouver Island received the ‘New Program’ award, which recognizes a new program that was introduced by an association or business which is innovative and where the key components are unique.
