      "Innkeeper Ian" has been passionately involved in the tourism industry for 13 years as a partner/innkeeper at Abbeymoore Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn. Ian currently heads up the accounting and administration department at Victoria's Prince of Whales marine adventure company. Founded in 1995, Prince of Whales is BC's largest marine adventure company having thrilled over half a million visitors and locals alike. Abbeymoore is one of Canada's most respected B&B Inns having won numerous awards including TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice award in 2010 as the #2 B&B in the world.

      Arthur relocated to Vancouver Island in 2013 where he joined The Beach Club Resort in Parksville as General Manager. The Beach Club Resort, located on Parksville’s sandy beach, has since been inducted into Tripadvisor’s Hall of Fame and the hotel’s restaurant, Pacific Prime Restaurant & Lounge has been awarded Wine Spectator’s award of excellence.

      Prior to joining The Beach Club Resort, Arthur spent the previous 13 years with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Arthur’s 20 plus year career in hospitality has taken him into 10 different cities across 3 continents which is ideal especially since his passions include travel, great service and delicious food. Arthur also serves as a Director on the Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association as well as on the Parksville Downtown Business Association.

      Raymond Chan is Principal Consultant, RCA Consulting, and provides strategic planning and advice to government, industry and non-profit organizations.

      He has over 30 years experience as a senior executive in tourism and government, including serving as Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Policy for the BC government, Vice President, Tourism British Columbia, and Managing Director, Pacific Carbon Trust.

      Raymond led the tourism strategies and partnerships around the 2010 Winter Olympics, and was part of the executive team that transformed Tourism British Columbia into an award-winning, world leader in tourism destination management. He has also served as an advisory board member for the Royal Roads University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, travel, world affairs, yoga and golf.

      Jim Owens is the Principal at JTO Hospitality Group. He was most recently Director of Sales at the beautiful Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre in Parksville. Prior to that, Jim was Director of Sales & Marketing at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo and served 20 years as Director of Sales & Marketing, and then COO of the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre.

      Earlier, Jim was a partner at the Penticton Inn for 4 years, then spent 10 years in the wine industry in the Okanagan Valley with what was Casabello Wines....now Vincor International. Jim has served as a Board Member of Tourism Vancouver Island since 2008. He has served on both the Governance and Marketing Committees and is currently Chair of the Marketing Committee. He brings to the Board over 30 years of experience in the meetings, conference and hotel/resort business as well as years of committed service to the tourism industry, having served on a number of industry boards including Tourism Penticton and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association.

      Jim looks forward to having fun, actively engaging with likeminded Stakeholders and to the continued success of Tourism Vancouver Island.

      Jenn Bogwald, CPA, CA, is a Partner and Business Advisor working out of MNP’s Nanaimo office. She assists owner-managed businesses from a broad range of industries including construction-related organizations, health and wellness services, resorts and other tourism-related operations. Jenn enjoys working with business owners on their succession plans, readying their businesses for sale or working with young business owners as they develop or take on new businesses – all the while ensuring her clients pay as little tax as possible on these transactions. She is adept at developing solutions that lead to positive change and stays current on MNP’s evolving service offerings so she can help her clients draw on the firm’s extensive expertise when required.

      Designated a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2006, Jenn also has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Okanagan University College in Kelowna and was in public practice for eight years with an international CA firm before moving to the Island. Committed to the community, Jenn is an active member of the Young Professionals of Nanaimo and leads the Community Gardens project where over 450 pounds of fresh produce is donated annually to the local food bank. Outside of work Jenn enjoys hot yoga, soccer, photography and travel.

      Carol Ann is currently the Financial Controller for Harbour Tower Hotel & Suites in Victoria. Carol Ann was the Operations Manager for Quadra Island Golf Club from 2013 to 2015 and prior to that, the General Manager/Accountant for Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge, the Oceanfront Resort at Cape Mudge from 1998 to 2013. During her 15 year tenure at the Lodge she spent 3 years as the Administrator of the Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre in Cape Mudge Village.

      Carol Ann has been a Director of Tourism Vancouver Island for 12 years, serving as Secretary Treasurer for 6 years and Chair of the Board for 4 years and as such, is the current Past Chair. Carol Ann is still involved with volunteer work for the Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce as Co-Chair of Quadra Island Tourism and their tourism marketing projects. Carol Ann is passionate about tourism for the Vancouver Island Region and in her spare time she enjoys golf, gardening, travel and generally having fun.

      Andrew is owner and Expedition Director of Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures. With an emphasis on customer service, guide development, and environmental/cultural stewardship Kingfisher has grown to become BC's premiere kayak tour operator offering multi-day tours to Vancouver Island, the Great Bear Rainforest, and Haida Gwaii. Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures' "Kayak With Whales - Orca Waters Base Camp" tour is recognized as a "Canadian Signature Experience" by the Canadian Tourism Commission. As ambassadors of Canada's tourism brand, "Canada. Keep Exploring", these memorable Signature Experiences meet rigorous criteria to ensure they stand out in a crowded and competitive marketplace.

      Since 2008 Andrew has been actively involved with the Vancouver Island North Tourism Advisory Committee and currently chairs this committee. Andrew is also president of the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association that represents north island tourism operators that depend on a healthy marine environment and the marine mammals that live in the water surroundings northern Vancouver Island.

      Cathy has over 30 years in the tourism and hospitality business and is currently the General Manager of Whiskey Landing Lodge in Ucluelet. She considers herself an innkeeper and team builder, believing that strength in staffing and customer service are paramount.
      Having carved out a career in the hospitality sector, Cathy has worked across the US and has spent the last 20 years on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, primarily in Ucluelet and Tofino.

      Cathy has worked in accommodations, event planning and execution, chamber of commerce and visitor services. She currently is the VP of Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce and involved in the Edge to Edge Marathon and the Van Isle 360. She supports local fundraising throughout the community and region, including local food bank, cops for cancer, education initiatives and the local farm to table program through Tofino Ucluelet Culinary Guild. In her spare time, she enjoys engaging with her family and friends, traveling, SUPing and hiking. Snowshoeing and fly fishing are the plans for 2017. A little bit of golf here and there rounds it out.

      Tourism Vancouver Island has been of personal interest to Cathy for the last several years and she is pleased to have the opportunity to serve the tourism communities by representing the West Coast.

      Dean moved to Vancouver Island in September 2014, joining the Oak Bay Marine Group as General Manager of the world famous Painter’s Lodge in Campbell River and April Point Resort & Spa on Quadra Island. From Toronto originally, Dean moved to Invermere BC 10 years ago, where he held various leadership positions, including General Manager, Grande Rockies Resort, Chief Operating Officer at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and Director of Lodging & Food and Beverage at Panorama Mountain Resort. With 30 years of industry experience in all levels and areas, including city centre hotels, destination resorts, pubs & restaurants, golf and ski management, Dean’s passion lies in operations with interest in developing strong, effective teams. His industry and community involvement includes various committees and boards, serving as a DMO board member with Tourism Canmore, director on The Panorama Foundation along with many local chamber of commerce and business associations throughout the years.

      Dean is a graduate of the Hospitality Management program at Seneca College and the National Institute of Golf Management.

      Janet moved to Salt Spring Island in 2010 and since 2011 has been the General Manager and now Executive Director of the Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre. The focus is on local business and community growth and sustainability as well as tourism marketing and visitor services in the unique Gulf Island community. Janet had been a volunteer member of the board of Directors of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, was President-Elect of the White Rock South Surrey Chamber and Visitor Cente, President of Touchstone Family Association in Richmond and is currently on the Board of the Salt Spring Island Public Library.

      In addition, she was Chair of the Richmond 2010 Bid Community Opportunities Task Force, Sponsorship Chair of the Richmond 2002 Tall Ship Festival, and founding member of ‘Women Making a Difference’ raising money for families in need. She was recipient of the 2006 Business Person of the Year Award (small business) in White Rock and recipient of 2004 Tourism Richmond Leadership Award for chairing the Richmond 2010 Olympic Bid Community Opportunities Task Force. Janet owns and operates Sunnyside Guest Suite which caters to tourists and business travelers visiting Salt Spring Island.

      Born and raised in Vancouver, Janet’s background is in business. She now owns and operates a growing business in the Cowichan Valley, Merridale Ciderworks. Merridale is a destination focusing on cider and distillery production, with a bistro, bakery, and boutique store on the farm property. Products are sold only in BC. Janet believes that Merridale's success is best achieved by promoting the growth of the community as a whole and then distinguishing Merridale within it. To this end, Janet has been a director or involved with numerous marketing and tourism associations on the island and BC, and assists with many festivals, events and fundraising efforts year round.

      Currently she is sitting on the finance committee of Tourism Victoria, marketing committee of Tourism Vancouver Island, Chair of WIVA (Wine Islands Vintners Association), and President of Tourism Cowichan Society. Her volunteer efforts have focused heavily on the food and beverage industry, as well as the viability and sustainability of agriculture.

      In 1995 Lara relocated to the Comox Valley from Ontario, having worked for an advertising agency after graduating with a Communications Degree from Sir Wilfred Laurier University.

      Since that time, Lara has been actively involved with destination marketing on Vancouver Island in her roles with Comox Valley Tourism, Business Improvement Associations, and currently as Manager of Marketing and Communications with Comox Valley Economic Development and Tourism (CVEDS), the region’s DMO. Her career has included municipal economic development attraction and expansion programs & projects, special event management and sponsorship development, media relations, corporate and consumer marketing, and downtown revitalization & infrastructure improvement projects.

      Lillian Hunt is is a U'mista Cultural & Island Tour Guide (Group Specialist). She was born in Alert Bay, ancestry: 'Namgis, Ma'amtagila (2 tribes of the Kwakwaka'wakw see www.umista.ca) and is a First Host trainer for the region.

      Lillian is Chair for the Quatsino First Nation Economic Development Corporation Board, is on the Vancouver Island North Tourism Advisory Committee (VINTAC) and is the Vancouver Island Director for Aboriginal Tourism BC (ATBC). She volunteers on the British Columbia Museum Association Council (BCMA), the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Board (VIEA) and Island North Film Association (INFilm).
