Tourism Vancouver Island helps optimize business potential and save money for our stakeholders through a variety of programs and marketing vehicles. Thanks to the provincial government’s Tourism Partner Program, these initiatives are available at greatly reduced rates compared to what businesses would spend in the free market for similar exposure and opportunities.
Annually we leverage a $484,633 investment from Destination British Columbia into more than $1.5 million in marketing opportunities. This allows us to extend considerable savings to our stakeholders as they buy into our publications and programs that reach target consumers in mainland BC, Alberta and Washington State in addition to staycationing residents right here on the Island.
Our annual marketing plan is developed with input from a committee of Island tourism stakeholders and approved by Tourism Vancouver Island’s Board and Destination British Columbia. This enables coordinated campaigns with the province and the Canadian Tourism Commission.
Stakeholders enjoy savings when advertising in any of Tourism Vancouver Island’s half-dozen annual publications available online and in widely distributed print editions. In turn, advertisers can tap into online display ads, early bird bonus discounts and website listings in many programs.
The Vacation Guide, our flagship publication, delivers a colourful overview of the Island’s seven distinct travel regions. Special interest groups – garden buffs, golfers, outdoor adventurers, foodies and wine aficionados – are served with five other glossy, professionally designed and written annual guidebooks. The content is written to appeal to the region’s main EQ (Explorer Quotient) target groups.
Advertising buy-ins ensure your service or product reaches a wide audience. Our publications are available as takeaway magazines or online through customized websites that adapt neatly for a variety of media – desktop and laptop computers, tablets and mobile browsers (iPhones, Androids and other smart phones).
Two other promotional vehicles are utilized by stakeholders to reach proactive consumers who have made direct inquiries to Tourism Vancouver Island about vacations to the region.
The bi-monthly Island Moments electronic newsletter is circulated to 18,000 subscribers clustered mainly in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. while also reaching readers in 44 other countries.
Tourism Vancouver Island’s Brochure Distribution Program ensures that rack cards, brochures, flyers and regional guides supplied by participating stakeholders are mailed directly to qualified individuals who request specific activity and/or community information.
